Brackenbury to take up top Airtours position

Airtours has recruited Thomson’s former development and director of human resources director Martin Brackenbury to one of three new director positions.

Brackenbury was most recently chairman of Panorama but was forced to leave following its acquisition by Airtours last September. He joins in the new position of director of international relations and corporate affairs.

Brackenbury was initially unable to work for Airtours under a clause in his Thomson contract barring him from working for a rival.

But Airtours group managing director Harry Coe said these conditions have expired. Brackenbury is already involved in wider industry issues as chairman of the Federation of Tour Operators.

Meanwhile, Unijet general manager sales Steve Barrass has taken up the newly created role of sales director. He will report to Airtours sales, marketing and development director Ed Sims when he takes up his role, which is expected to be in July.

Former Inspirations sales director Andrew Williams is the director of franchise development at Airtours UKLGDistribution Division. He will develop the relationship between the Advantage franchise agents and UKLG tour operators as well as increase the number of agents in the scheme.
