AVIANCA is offering agents 15% commission on ticket sales for an indefinite period.
The Colombian carrier’s rate increase from the usual 9% coincides with Avianca upgrading its position in the top global distribution systems.
Using Galileo’s system, the airline has made itself available for interactive ticket sales and arranged for a specific display to make it easier for agents to find fares.
Avianca vice-president for Europe Kenneth Hunter said the increase in commission was designed to advertise the airline’s push for more business with a better on-line profile.
“This will allow travel agency access to last seat availability, and a new price package offering our lowest-ever fares throughout Colombia and the rest of South America,” said Hunter.
