BA applies for Libyan service after UN lifts flight blockade


BRITISH Airways is set to relaunch flights to Libya later this month after a 13-year break.



The airline has applied to start thrice-weekly services to Tripoli on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays from either Heathrow or Gatwick.



Launch date, fares and airport will be confirmed when the Civil Aviation Authority agrees to a licence. A decision is expected by May.



The United Nations lifted a ban on Libyan flights last Monday. Libyan Arab Airlines is expected to re-enter the UK market later this year.



n BA has confirmed Sir Terence Conran’s design firm is working on proposals for refitting Concorde. The seven-strong fleet was last revamped in 1993.
