AVISEurope has increased pre-tax profits by more than 12% to £111.1m, in the year ending December 31 1999.
Revenue rose 16.4% to £671.1m and operating profit was up 12.6% to £143.6m.
Chief executive Mark McCafferty said the results were ahead of expectations and helped by strong growth in the leisure sector, which rose 15% across all markets. Corporate business rose 9%.
“We have done a lot to increase leisure business but the growth was higher than we predicted,” he added.
“I believe it will continue to grow as more people rent cars on their holidays and new channels of distribution open up, such as the Internet and digital TV.”
McCafferty admitted less than 1% of reservations currently come via the Internet, with 40% coming through call centres.
