LIVERPOOL AGREES START DATE FOR WORK ON NEW £40M TERMINAL


Liverpool Airport will start work later this year on a new £40m terminal to take its capacity up to 3m passengers a year. It will be complete by 2002. In the meantime the airport is spending £1.6m expanding its existing departure lounges and arrivals area.


BIRMINGHAM ENTERS SECOND PHASE OF £260M DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME


Birmingham has entered the second phase of its £260m expansion programme which includes an extended departures area, new larger executive lounges, a refurbished and expanded departure lounge, new cafe and retail outlets, and a new international departure gate. The arrivals area will also be improved as part of the second phase, including a new concourse linking the main terminal to its Eurohub satellite.


BELFAST TO COMPLETE DEPARTURE LOUNGE IN TIME FOR PEAK SEASON


Belfast International Airport will complete the expansion of its departure lounge, which will double its capacity to 1,000 passengers, by the end of June in time for the peak travelling period. A complete refurbishment of the lounge will take place in the autumn.


FIRST STAGE OF EDINBURGH’S NEW EXTENSION TO OPEN IN MAY


The first phase of Edinburgh Airport’s £54m plan to increase its capacity by 1m passengers a year to 5.5m will open on May 28. This will include 26 check-in desks, a new combined international and domestic departure lounge, new facilities for passengers and a faster baggage reclaim system.
