False prophet falls foul of pond life

BACKCHAT has issued a warning to the trade to beware of a bogus miracle worker in their midst.

The false prophet is Cathay Pacific sales and marketing manager Ian Nash, who has just started practising that age-old miracle of walking on water.

His first Jesus-like effort was performed in the busy foyer of a top Hong Kong hotel last week.

While walking towards a group of operators, Nash thought he would opt for a short cut – over an ornamental pond.

Absolutely no problem if you happen to be the son of God, but rather trickier if you are a mere mortal.

Predictably, for his sins, the Cathay man’s shoes got very wet and his face went a very bright shade of red.

According to startled on-lookers, it was a sight to behold.

Yet Nash’s pitiful walking on water efforts have not deterred others from becoming his disciples.

In Cathay’s new first-class lounge at Hong Kong Airport, Backchat spotted a young woman wading across another ornamental pond.

Backchat, meanwhile, chose the easier option – just to walk on by.
