AB AIRLINES has made its London-based commercial team redundant after dropping most of its routes last week.
The decision to axe commercial manager Garry Barone, marketing manager Ian Hawkes and distribution manager Philip Hancock comes after intense competition from low-cost airlines.
Barone said the three were told last Wednesday that their jobs had been made redundant.
An AB Airlines spokesman said the commercial operation at Queen Street in the City of London was the only department to be hit.
He said the Irish sales unit was unaffected by cuts and would continue to promote the airline’s only independent route between Gatwick and Shannon.
Last week, the airline dropped Shannon flights from Birmingham and Stansted.
Its daily Gatwick-Berlin flight is being axed at the end of next month.
