ISLANDS ROUND UP
Crete: Malia is a young and lively resort, bustling with bars and discos, and has good nightlife. For the family market, there is the quiet village of Makriyalos.
Rhodes: Rhodes Town, the island’s capital, is cosmopolitan. There’s lots to do in the evening, with many places to eat out. The inland village of Afandou is quieter and offers a golf course.
Zante: also called Zakynthos. The island’s biggest resort is Laganas, with its 4km sandy beach, busy music bars and beachside tavernas. Those who want a quieter experience should head for Tsilivi, which is popular with families.
Kos: Kos Town is the island’s capital. It has a bustling harbour and good selection of bars and tavernas. The best-known resort is Kardamena, which has plenty of watersports, scores of tavernas, bars, tourist shops and a buzzing nightlife.
Corfu: Kavos is a young and lively resort, with a high-energy nightlife – it has countless bars and half a dozen discos. Sidari is a family resort with a relaxed atmosphere, safe swimming, a small harbour and sandy coves.
