WE read with interest the problems incurred by Travel Needs, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, in obtaining commission from a Forte Travelodge (Travel Weekly February 24).
Travelodge is a sister company to Forte Hotels trading with a separate booking and accounting system which is not linked to the system Forte Hotels developed for travel agents.
Forte Hotels’ current retail agents accounting system has been designed to alleviate commission payment delays. We are sympathetic to Travel Needs and have asked the Battersea Travelodge to attend to its commission request.
Forte Hotels launched its worldwide leisure brochure last week, which now includes a selection of 64 Travelodges commissionable at 10% when booked via a dedicated reservations telephone number.
