New craft gives Stena Line capacity boost

STENA Line has increased capacity on its 99min Fishguard to Rosslare crossing with the launch of Stena Lynx III.

The 270-foot long catamaran, with a capacity of 620 passengers, has replaced the smaller craft Stena Lynx I which could hold 430 passengers, representing a 30% increase.

The new craft also doubles vehicle capacity, with room for 145 cars.

The Stena Lynx III will make four return crossings daily in tandem with the super-ferry Koningin Beatrix which will continue to make two round trips.

The company claims Stena Lynx III’s facilities are better than on Stena Lynx I, with lounge-style passenger accommodation on two decks together with a larger duty-free shop, restaurant and bar.

Fares for a car, driver and up to four passengers travelling on the fast ferry are from ú149 for a five-day return.

n Stena Line Holidays has launched its Holiday Britain brochure based on the ferry operator’s services from Stranraer. A city break to Edinburgh starts from ú65 per night, based on a car and four sharing which includes return travel on the Stena HSS from Belfast, rail connections from Stranraer and accommodation.
