Web browser gives agents faster service

Anite has joined forces with software specialists Intelligent Environments to develop a product that gives agents access to the World Wide Web via tour operators’ reservation systems.

Called Amazon, the Web browser front-end product is specifically designed for tour operators which have older reservation systems called legacy systems. such as Anite’s ATOPproduct.

The product means agents will no longer have to log in and out of the different operators’ inventory when searching for a holiday to suit their customer, which will speed up the whole booking process.

Anite travel business sales director Kevin Thorogood said training on the system will be much quicker too – a considerable saving for an agency with a high turnover of staff.

The company claimed the site browser will also give the agent more access to information about destinations for customers and opens up e-commerce possibilities. Other benefits, said Anite, include better search facilities for late availability and a much improved front-end screen.

However, the Amazon software also opens up the way for more operators to boost their direct selling via the Internet.

Thorogood said: “Many ATOP clients cannot afford to sell over the Web but this software will adapt their system to be Web-enabled.

“With Amazon, we can develop the front end through which consolidators can sell to the public.”
