Beaches: a vast sandy bay on Morocco’s Atlantic coast stretches for around 10km, bordered by restaurants and bars, and overlooked by the mountains.
Eating out: for traditional Moroccan cuisine, go to the Al Medina complex on the main tourist road. The resort also has Chinese and Mexican restaurants. Starters cost from 30-50 dirham (£2-£3.30), main courses cost from 50-90 dirham (£3-£6).
Car hire: 1,500 dirham (£100) for three days.
Excursions from Agadir: a city tour of Agadir costs around 85 dirham (£5.60), a day trip to Marrakesh costs 650 dirham (£43.30) with two meals included. The city of Taroudant, a 16th century walled city is 1hr 30mins drive and the 16th century Portuguese fishing port of Essaouira is 3hrs drive.
Nightlife: restaurants in the main tourist area provide entertainment such as singers in the evening or, if you want to dance the night away, there are discos attached to the larger hotels – try the Flamingo club at the Agadir BeachClub.
Souvenirs: the market in Agadir is 20 minutes’ walk from the main tourist area. On offer are ceramics, leather, gold, silver, carpets.
