P&O European Ferries is putting a new passenger and freight ferry on the Cairnryan-Larne route.
The new roll-on, roll-off ferry, with capacity for 410 passengers and 375 cars, enters service in June and will cross in 1hr, 45mins, some 30mins faster than the Pride of Rathlin which currently operates the route and which will be sold.
The new ship, European Causeway, will run alongside the 800-passenger fast-ferry SuperStar Express, which is being moved to the route in mid-April to replace the Jetliner fast craft. The fast-ferry crossing from Cairnryan to Larne will take 60mins.
