Hilton International to invest £3.5m on rebranding strategy

Hilton International is expected to complete the rebranding of its Hilton National and Stakis properties under the Hilton name within the next three months.

The group is investing £3.5m in rebranding the chain’s 79 UK and Ireland properties in order to simplify its branding strategy. Stakis was acquired in March last year for £1.3bn.

Further to the rebranding, the group is also refurbishing and developing some of its properties.

Hilton International UK and Ireland managing director Anthony Harris said: “The objective was to provide our customers with consistently high standards, and to achieve our goal over £100m is being spent on refurbishment and development during 2000.”

Over the next year £35m is being spent on a new lobby, new suites, new ballroom, new bar and health spa for the London Hilton on Park Lane; £100m on an extension to the Hilton London Metropole and £15m on the The Langham Hilton.

As part of the rebranding the Information Technology systems have been integrated and new uniforms have been designed.

A new Hilton breakfast has been developed and Hilton HHonors, a guest reward and recognition programme, has been introduced.

Harris said after a review of the UK portfolio, 13 properties have been sold. When the transition is completed, the UK will have 79 Hiltons, 12 in London.

Two more London properties are under development; the new 355-room Hilton London Paddington, linked to the rail station and the Heathrow Paddington Express, is due to open in November and the Hilton London Trafalgar Square will open in 2001.
