Pan Pacific to tailor service for women

PAN PACIFIC Hotels and Resorts is to review the way it caters for its women business travellers after carrying out a survey among its female guests to find out what they do and do not want from a hotel.

The survey, carried out among 200 female corporate travellers staying at the company’s flagship property in San Francisco, showed that personal safety in hotels is of prime concern to women.

When asked to give their opinions on the most valued service a hotel can offer, they cited reception staff who do not announce a guest’s name or room number out loud and room keys that do not indicate a room number as the most important.

The survey found that women favoured hotels with peep holes in room doors, 24hr security on site, well-lit common areas and safe parking.

Staff who are able to offer advice on unsafe areas of the city also ranked high among the requirements. Women also gave high marks to in-room office facilities, a personal butler, fitness centres and gourmet dining.

The in-room hair dryer topped the list of necessities, with bath robe, cotton wool and hand cream among the most appreciated creature comforts.

However, video games and cable television got the thumbs down from women.

Pan Pacific director of sales for the UK and Europe Roger Niemeyer said:”The world of business travel is no longer male dominated and, as a service industry, it is vital we are well informed of the preferences of all of our customers.

“The results of the San Francisco survey are fascinating and have been passed on to all of our hotels as a useful guideline.”
