THE Southeast England Tourist Board is launching a series of workshops designed to help tourism businesses in Kent, Surrey and Sussex to capitalise on their use of the Internet.
The 3hr workshops called Making Your Business Worldwide business will outline ways in which new technologies can increase profit margins for the tourism industry through Internetprojects and leisure supply chainmanagement.
Workshops will also cover Web site development and on-line ticketing and reservations.
SEETB communication manager Shane Guy said: “Worldwide adoption of the Internet is growing at a rate of 200,000 new users a day and travel information is one of the most used services. For example through its Expedia travel site, Microsoft has already become the fifth-largest travel agency in the world, sharing the estimated $8bn worldwide on-line ticketing and reservation market that will exist by 2001. We want to help the southeast’s tourism industry increase their market shar.”
The workshops run by ICT Strategies are being held in Rochester (March 3), Haslemere (March 4), Crawley (March 12), Chichester (March 16), Ashford (March 25), Crowborough (March 14), Hastings (April 15), Brighton (April 27), Eastbourne (April 28) and Dover (April 29). They will cost ú30 for tourist board members and ú40 for non-members.
ICTStrategies has run 200 strategic Internet workshops for business.
