PORTMAN EXTENDS FREE E-MAIL TO CLIENTS
Portman Travel has introduced free Internet-based e-mail addresses to its clients which will allow them to both send and retrieve e-mails worldwide. Any business travellers who have access to the Internet either through their own PCs or through hotel television sets can use the new service, which has been developed with World Telecom.
MILLENNIUM MAYFAIR ADDS LOYALTY CARD
The Millennium Britannia Mayfair has introduced a loyalty programme for its frequent guests. The Millennium Gold Card is available for all guests staying at least five times a year and offers a range of added benefits, including a single rate for double occupancy, room upgrades if available, a direct line for all reservations and also a separate check-in and check-out by guest relations.
EMIRATES CUTS COST OF FAXES AND CALLS
Emirates has cut the costs of calls and faxes on its flights by 20% after signing a deal with Satellite Aircom and Inmarsat. The airline claims it makes no profit from providing this service to passengers but hopes to make calls even cheaper in the future. Passengers can pay for the telephone and fax facilities using a major credit card or by purchasing a pre-paid Emirates telephone card on board.
SCOTS ENCOURAGE LOW-SEASON BUSINESS
The Scottish Convention Bureau has launched a programme of seasonal offers to encourage conference and incentive business throughout the traditionally low season. It is offering discounts of up to 33% on meeting venues until April 30. For example, weekend 24hr delegate rates at the Thistle Glasgow start at £93.80 per delegate – a saving of 33%.
