AGENTS have inundated ABTAwith complaints they will not have the technology to issue airline tickets when airport charges are separated from the fare price (Travel Weekly December 16 1998).
The association has been warned of chaos when carriers start the process next Monday for travel from April 1.
The passenger service charges were previously absorbed by carriers in fare prices and formed part of the commission payment. From next week they will be non-commissionable.
ABTA’s fight against the practice has been boosted after Lufthansa lost a German court case over a similar move.
ABTA said it was studying the UK implications.
