SEVEN hotels in the Czech Republic have become founder members of the new three-star Amber Hotels brand launched by Corinthia Hotels International.
The properties – ranging in size from the tiny three-room Amber Hotel Stachy to the 210-room Amber Hotel Hradec Kralove – were acquired by Corinthia along with two four-star Prague hotels.
While the 427-room Panorama and 551-room Park Towers, formerly the Forum, have joined CHI’s upmarket city centre and resort hotels product line, the three-star hotels needed a branding of their own, said marketing director Edward Melillo.
“It’s Corinthia’s intention to expand at four and five-star level,” he said.
“If in the process we acquire more three-star hotels, we now have a brand which they will fit in to.
“We are working to attract UK tour operators to all our Czech Republic hotels. The three-star hotels are all outside Prague and in some of the most attractive parts of the country.”
Meanwhile, in Budapest, Corinthia is about to start work on restoring the Grand Hotel Royal into a five-star city centre property with 350 rooms.
The hotel will keep its turn-of-the-century facade.
Corinthia has modernised the lobby of its other Budapest hotel, the five-star Aquincum, and opened three franchise restaurants in the Hungarian capital.
