Spa Hotels
Four of Danube Travel’s top-selling Hungarian spa hotels are in Budapest. The fifth is at Heviz, near the western end of Lake Balaton. The properties, all run by parent company Danubius, are listed below.
Danubius Thermal Hotel Margitziget: four-star hotel with 206 rooms on Margaret Island and the world’s first city spa property.
Danubius Grand Hotel Margitziget: also four-star and with 162 rooms, the former Ramada Grand dates from the late 19th century and is linked by an underground walkway to the Thermal Hotel above.
Danubius Hotel Gellert: best known of Hungary’s spa hotels, the 233-room Gellert was built in the 1920s. The indoor swimming pool, using water from the Gellert hot springs, is a big attraction.
Danubius Thermal Hotel Helia: modern four-star Scandinavian-style hotel, with 262 rooms on the bank of the Danube facing Margaret Island. Thermal baths and a large Jacuzzi are features.
Danubius Thermal Hotel Heviz: in parkland by Europe’s largest thermal lake at the western end of Lake Balaton, the four-star hotel with 203 rooms was built in 1976 and renovated last year.
