Longwood rolls out in-house star rating system for Israel

THE lack of a hotel grading system in Israel has prompted Longwood Holidays to introduce its own star ratings.

The Longwood Palm Tree system will be based on the views of its customers and staff and appears in the operator’s 1999 brochure.

Included in the programme are millennium holidays, which lead in at ú899 for four nights at the Hilton in Jerusalem.

Managing director Rafi Caplin said Israel specialists were banking on the market picking up after a dismal winter.

“We lost 30% of our winter business because of the recent crisis in the Gulf,” he said.

Flydrives, city breaks and packages are all featured in the brochure. New are two hotels in Tel Aviv – the Isrotel Tower and the David Inter-Continental.

Prices lead in at ú376 per person for seven nights’ bed-and-breakfast at the Margoa Hotel in Natanya, including flights and transfers.
