MIDCONSORT is to use its overseas conference in Palma later this year as a springboard to build membership.
The consortium’s board gave the go ahead for the event after 70 of its 83 members backed the plan. It will be its first overseas conference and will be held on the weekend of October 29.
Chief executive Sue Foxall said the conference will be thrown open to all agents not already affiliated with a consortium and operators.
“We see it as an excellent way of getting the message across that Midconsort is and always will be totally independent,” she said. “We have 127 shops at the moment and would like to increase that number to 200 by the end of the year.”
