n iata to issue receipts
The International Air Transport Association is planning to issue agents with receipts which they can give to clients who have paid a management fee. The receipts will not be compulsory but IATAis hoping they will become recognised globally and will formalise the fee issue. However, agents will have to pay $25 per box of 100.
n New sabre deal
Air France has signed a deal with Sabre to expand its range of products for sale over the global distribution system. Under the new agreement, it will be offering e-ticketing and negotiated and corporate fares over the GDS. Air France helpdesks will also advise subscribers how to access the airline’s products and services through the GDS.
n SAA considers float
South African Airways is considering floating on the London and South Africa stock exchanges next year. SAA is on course to turn around 1999’s £13m loss into a £57m profit this year.
n sabena losses
Belgian flag carrier Sabena has blamed competition, higher fuel prices andover-capacity on transatlantic routes for an £8.8m loss in 1999. The result comes as 49.5% shareholder Swissair prepares to take a majority stake from the Belgian government this year.
n Pyshorn in hertz job
Hertz Europe has appointed Jo Pyshorn to the new position of marketing manager in the leisure team, responsible for trade and consumer marketing. She reports to director leisure sales and marketing Elizabeth Harraway. Pyshorn was previously head of communications – leisure for Eurostar.
