Elegant Hotels has reopened The Tamarind Cove on the West Coast of Barbados after a ú1.5mrefurbishment. The 166-room hotel has undergone extensive renovations to allpublic areas, gardens, kitchens, guest rooms and restaurants. Its two main restaurants have been rebranded.
n Le Meridien signs contract for taipei property
Le Meridien Hotels and Resorts has signed a management contract for a four-star hotel in Taipei, Taiwan. The 226-room hotel is privately owned and was formerly called the Gloria Hotel. It has been renamed Le Meridien Gloria Taipei. Over the next few months more than $3m will be invested torenovate rooms and public areas.

Summit Hotels and Resorts is offering up to 60% offpublished rates at 54 of its hotels during 1999 as part of apromotion called Summit Exclusives. For example, the Grand Hotel Baglioni in Parma, Italy, is offering a double room for ú76 per night, for a minimum of two nights – a saving of 43%.
