Trade makes itself a target for Watchdog

LIKE most people in the travel industry, my blood pressure steadily starts to rise whenever Anne Robinson appears on the television.

However, after much consideration, I am rapidly coming to the conclusion that the industry deserves all it gets.

Only yesterday a client wanted to know why is it that one operator has a ú24 ski carriage charge, yet he has been reliably informed that the airline they are flying with makes no such charge.

Another company charged a client ú10 for a pre-bookable seat service – which they didn’t get – and are now refusing to give a refund. Where will it end? When will Watchdog make hay out of the fact that it costs an extra ú4 to fly out of Glasgow rather than Heathrow?

I understand the trade’s annoyance at Watchdog and such programmes, but surely we have only ourselves to blame if we make ourselves such obvious targets.
