Fjord cruising options


P&O Cruises


Six cruises of between 10 and 16 nights, from May to August. Prices from £1,345 for a 12-night itinerary on Oriana, departing Southampton on June 11. The vessel will cruise in Hardangerfjord, Romsdalsfjord and Nordfjord.


Royal Caribbean International


Splendour of the Seas operates two fjord cruises in 1999. Both are 12-night voyages, departing Harwich on June 22 and August 19. Prices lead in at £1,439.


Norwegian Coastal Voyages


A fleet of 11 ships operates departures from Bergen to 11 fjords, visiting one each day during the trip. The average selling price of a 12-night package, including flights and hotels, is £1,400.


Fred Olsen Cruises


Plans to operate seven fjord cruises of between seven and 15 days on Black Watch and Black Prince this summer. Average selling price of a typical two-week cruise is £2,500.


Norwegian Cruise Line


Operating three fjord cruises this year. A 14-night Norwegian Highlights voyage aboard Norway, departing Southampton on June 19, will cruise fjords including Oslofjord, Geirangerfjord and Romsdalsfjord. Prices from £1,855. Norwegian Dream will operate 12 and 14-night North Cape and fjord cruises, including calls at Bergen, Kristiansund and Honningraag. Prices start from £1,415 in May.


Cunard Line


QE2 will operate a Norwegian coastal cruise between July 16-August 3 from Southampton. Calls include Edinburgh, Oslo, Stavanger and North Cape, and prices start at £2,612. Royal Viking Sun will also carry out a 14-night cruise departing Dover on July 16, costing from £4,040.
