Airline secures deal for 10 new services

RYANAIR has secured deals with 10 mainland European airports to offer new low-cost services from the UK.

The agreements will result in the launch of at least two new Ryanair services in late summer. The rest will start operations next year, probably from Stansted Airport.

Ryanair chief executive Michael O’Leary refused to say what the two destinations would be, but said he was currently in negotiations with airports in Spain, where he is keen to launch services.

O’Leary said: “We could go with 10 new routes now if we had the right equipment to operate them.

“We are also in negotiations with more than 30 other airports,” he added.

New routes are possible as Ryanair starts taking delivery of 25 new Boeing 737-800s next month to boost its existing 21-strong B737 fleet. The aircraft will be delivered at five a year.

The airline has already unveiled plans to launch thrice-daily flights from Stansted to Frankfurt and daily flights to Biarritz and Dinard daily on April 22; double-daily services to Genoa on May 20; and double daily flights to Turin and daily to Ancona on July 1.

Fares lead in at ú69 return.
