THE breakaway Scottish consortium Scottish Passenger Agents’ Retail Consortium has hit its target of 40 members and will now start looking for a commercial director and general manager.
A total of 43 agents have joined SPARC after the consortium voiced concerns it would not reach the required amount (Travel Weekly February 10). Its inaugural meeting takes place at the end of March.
SPARC steering group chairman Roy Brabender claimed the consortium would have a series of commercial deals in place by April which would be considerably better than deals offered by rival groups.
“We are talking to potential partners including Airtours, First Choice, Sunworld, Inspirations and Cosmos. The difference is our deals will be negotiated and administered in Scotland for Scottish agents.”
