KLMUK sparks Guernsey row

KLM uk has sparked another row with the aviation licensing body in Guernsey by dropping virtually all flights to the island from March 28.

The carrier said the decision followed poor performances on its routes from Southampton, Stansted and Amsterdam. A weekly flight from Leeds/Bradford Airport will be withdrawn at the end of the summer.

KLM UK blamed the demise of the Southampton route on the Guernsey Transport Board for issuing a licence to Jersey European Airways last year.

GTB chief executive Richard Kirkpatrick said the licence was granted to JEA only after KLM UK pulled out of Heathrow.

This move led the GTB to take legal action against KLM UKfor transferring the slots to BA. A decision is expected on March 1.
