Industry stalwart Moore passes away

Esprit Holidays chairman and ABTA board member Bob Moore has died at the age of 54 after a short illness.

A memorial fund is being set up to honour the life of Moore who was diagnosed with cancer of the pancreas last month. He is survived by his wife Meg and three children.

ABTAformer Tour Operators’ Council chairman Warren Sandral praised Moore’s work for the association. “It was his determination that the small guy should be represented that made ABTAmore democratic,” he said.

Association of Independent Tour Operatorschairman Paul Chandler said he was planning to set up a suitable award or fellowship which would recognise the enormous contribution Moore, who was also an AITO director, had made to the travel industry.

A private funeral is being held this week which will be followed by a memorial service within the next four weeks.

Bob’s wife Meg has requested that any charitable donations are sent to the Bob Moore Memorial Fund c/o Esprit Holidays, Oaklands, Reading Road North, Fleet, Hampshire, GU13 8AA. The charity has not yet been decided.
