EUROSCOTExpress has put plans to launch direct Scottish services to Germany on hold due to lack of suitable slots.
Chief executive Jack Romero was set to start flights from either Edinburgh or Glasgow to Dusseldorf and Frankfurt this year. “These plans have now been put on hold as we can not get the slots we require.”
Romero said he is still determined to start services to Germany, but will wait until good slots are available.
The low-cost carrier’s first flight to mainland Europe will be launched on March 28 from its base at Bournemouth to Amsterdam.
Romero is currently looking at new routes from Bournemouth within Europe but declined to reveal details.
Euroscot is also considering expanding its operation beyond Dorset to base aircraft in other regional UK airports. This summer Euroscot will double frequency on its Bournemouth services to Edinburgh and Glasgow to both double daily.
The carrier is currently using one 74-seater ATR-72 turboprop, but Romero expects to have two more for the summer to operate the Amsterdam flight and new services.
Within two years, Euroscot hopes to be using jets.
