WRENS Hotel Group, a collection of upmarket heritage hotels in the UK, is looking to strengthen its relationship with the travel trade following the formation of a group sales and marketing department.
Until now, the group’s five properties, which include the Sir Christopher Wren’s House Hotel in Windsor and the nearby Taplow House Hotel, have handled sales and marketing independently.
Newly appointed group marketing manager Clare Logue, who was previously general manager of the Windsow hotel, said the company was now much better placed to sell through the trade.
She intends to organise familiarisation trips to the properties and to enhance the group’s Web site.
The group already works closely with conference and corporate agents, particularly for the Windsor property because of its proximity to Heathrow. The hotel is also popular for themed short breaks, including polo, Legoland, and theatre breaks.
The group is opening seven serviced apartments next to the hotel next month, which it also plans to sell through the trade.
Its first overseas property, the Grand Hotel Bonavia on the Opatija Riviera in Croatia, is also due to open in March.
The 125-year-old hotel is currently undergoing a £5m refurbishment. It will have 120 rooms, including six luxury suites and a presidential suite.
It will also have a private aircraft and private yacht.
