Geoff Saltmarsh, managing partner, The Saltmarsh Partnership
Age: 43 (going on 28).
Target time: 4hrs, 58mins and 30secs – just beating Jim Paul from the Northern Ireland Tourist Board.
Target money to collect: at least £2,000. I think most people will be willing to cough up just to see me in my Lycra running shorts.
Training regime: steady build-up. I have no running experience whatsoever, but I am drawing on my knowledge of equestrian sports and applying the same principles that are used to get a horse fit. It seems to be working – but I still feel a little self-conscious wearing a saddle and bridle.
Where do you run? on the quiet country lanes around my home near Canterbury. Preferably in the dark.
His running partner is: no-one. Most of my friends and neighbours are retired, so it would be inappropriate to run with them. What if they were quicker than me?
Have you ever done a marathon before? don’t be silly.
Have you given anything up? yes, a pain-free life. I’ll probably give up alcohol a month before the marathon, but then again…
