GREECE specialist Olympic Holidays is to launch its first long-haul programme with an initial capacity of between 5,000 and 10,000.
The venture, the first of its kind by the operator, is part of a three-year plan to carry 250,000 passengers.
Managing director George Michalias declined to reveal what long-haul destinations it would feature but said departures would start from January next year to three countries.
“It is going to come a point when we will find it difficult to continue expanding our Greece and Cyprus bookings to any significant extent,” he said. “Consultants have been working on the long-haul project and we hope to have something ready in two or three months.”
Michalias said a long-haul manager will be recruited once the brochure is launched.
Olympic has expanded from 40,000 passengers in 1997 to an estimated 160,000 in 2000.
