THE SCOTTISH Office has given the Scottish Tourist Board a £1m funding top-up, taking its budget for this year to £20.3m.
The money has been earmarked to help fund Project Ossian, an initiative to develop an Internet site covering accommodation and attractions in Scotland.
An STB spokesman said the organisation had already contributed £2.5m towards the project, but is expected to pay a further £1.5m this year.
He said some of the extra funding would be used to help out Scotland’s 14 areas tourist boards, at least two of which are short of money because of cuts in local authority funding.
These are Ayrshire and Arran, and Dumfries and Galloway.
