n Helios debuts Uk flights to Larnaca



Cypriot independent carrier Helios Airways launches UK flights to Larnaca on June 1. The airline will use a170-seat Boeing 737 from Birmingham, Belfast, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Gatwick, Luton, Manchester and Newcastle.



n air jamaica adds sixth kingston service



Air Jamaica will add a sixth weekly frequency to its Heathrow-Kingston schedule on March 31. The new service will operate each Friday. Flights go via Air Jamaica’s hub in Montego Bay.



n thai airways waivers over star alliance



Thai Airways’ membership of Star Alliance is reportedly under threat due to Singapore Airlines’ impending entrance into the global partnership. Thai’s president Thamnoon Wanglee is unhappy that SIA has started codesharing with Lufthansa on routes previously operated jointly by the Thai and German carriers resulting in Thai losing millions of dollars. It is a founder of Star Alliance, but analysts have linked it with the Air France/Delta Air Lines group.



n BWA boeing 737 based at gatwick for Aito



British World Airlines is to base a 148-seat Boeing 737 at Gatwick this summer to operate flights for members of the Association of Independent Tour Operators. Services will be to Greece, Turkey, Cyprus and Spain for operators including Airtours and Sunvil Holidays and Manos Holidays.
