We asked Premier Holidays about its clients most frequently asked questions regarding Northern Thailand. Here’s what the operator told us


What are the health requirements?


Vaccinations are strongly recommended. Contact your local GP for advice depending on which area of Northern Thailand you will be visiting.


What is the ideal length of stay?


Three to four days is the ideal length of time.


What type of clothes should we take with us?


The north tends to be cooler than the south, especially at night and early morning, so pack some trousers and long-sleeve tops. However, the days tend to be comparable to a very hot day in England, so also pack very light clothing.


When is the rainy season?


From July through to the end of September.


Will I be able to ride an elephant?


Premier Holidays offers excursions which include a visit to the elephant-training camp and a ride through the rainforest.


We want to visit the north but we don’t want to ‘rough it’ – are there any deluxe hotels?


Just outside Chiang Mai there is the exclusive Regent Resort which has suites overlooking the jungle-clad Ma Rim Valley.


How long is the transfer from Chiang Rai to Chiang Mai Airport?


Around 40 mins.
