Crossair uses Embraer 145s

Crossair is to replace turboprop aircraft on its Manchester and Birmingham routes to Basel with faster 49-seater Embraer 145 jets.

The Manchester service receives the jet on March 26 and Birmingham on May 1.

The Swiss carrier is also adding extra capacity on Channel Islands routes to Zurich by introducing a 50-seat Saab 2000 instead of a 33-seat Saab 340 this summer.

In the long term, Crossair is to introduce a range of Embraer jets in place of existing aircraft to provide a faster and more efficient service to the UK.
