New delivery leaves Donnelly facing a Del Boy complex
HOLIDAY Hypermarkets’ hyperactive managing director John Donnelly has become a proud father for the first time at the age of 48.John’s wife Elaine gave birth to an 8lb 6oz girl, Casey Mae, on April 5. Apparently, Casey has blonde hair, blue eyes and is very beautiful – in other words, she looks nothing like her overjoyed father.
John cheerfully admits making a bit of a plonker of himself in the hospital. A massive Only Fools and Horses fan, John announced to the anaesthetist that he wanted to copy the famous sketch where Del Boy becomes a father. You know, the one where the expectant relatives ask Del what it is and he announces ‘it’s a baby’.
Then John said to the long-suffering anaesthetist:”You’ve got Del on your log-in machinery, I didn’t realise you were a fan.”
“No, John”, he replied patiently. “That stands for delivery.”
