Travelocity.com adds fare search facility
Site upgrade
TRAVELOCITY.COM has introduced a sophisticated search facility called the ‘best fare finder’ to its UK Web site. The new facility searches for the lowest fare for a selected destination and departure date, and then shows on a calendar the closest dates when that fare is actually available.
Vice-president Europe Jeff Lavender said surveys of British Internet shoppers showed they were frustrated by having to wade through large numbers of low fares, only to find the one they finally settle on is not available on the dates they want to travel.
“If they find the right price then they often discover the rules attached to it means it’s got no value to them at all,” he said.
“We believe our product takes the confusion out of finding a fare.”
Travelocity.com plans to redesign its UK site to make it warmer and more colourful, and to add personalised messages for registered users.
The site upgrade, which should start taking effect in June, follows Travelocity.com’s tie-up with former on-line rival Preview Travel (Travel Weekly March 20).
Time saving: the new service aims to take the confusion out of finding the cheapest fare
