ARTAC insists on better deal from carrier

ARTAC Worldchoice commercial director Julian Foster has told British Airways to come up with a better deal or lose the association’s business.

“I told BA that we expect our earning power under the new system to equate to the old 9% commission. Otherwise, we are not interested in dealing with it,” he said.

“BA has told us that it believes it will be able to come up with a proposal that will match these requirements, which it will present to us next month.”

Meanwhile, Pole Travel assistant manager Jill Waite will use the ARTACconference in Birmingham in April to drum up support for a proposal to stage a week-long boycott of BA in May.

She plans to set up a national network of agents who are opposed to BA’s commission cutting (Travel Weekly February 7).
