Ghent set to host first Flanders Travel Forum

Tourism Flanders – Brussels is staging its first dedicated travel workshop in Ghent between May 14 and 16.

The move follows the decision to discontinue the Benelux Workshop, which was dropped last year.

Tourism Flanders director Patrick De Smaele said the Flanders Travel Forum was designed to bring together key tour operators, agents and suppliers from the UK with more than 50 Belgian suppliers.

“It provides the chance for Belgian suppliers to meet up with the cream of the UK travel trade.

“It also gives us the opportunity to showcase our less well-known historic cities of Ghent and Antwerp,” he said.

The event will include a workshop for delegates and a business session to discuss the key issues affecting the market which will be moderated by Travel Weekly deputy editor Liz Bird. A formal dinner will also be held on Monday evening at a castle outside Ghent at which UK companies will be awarded Partners in Promotions awards for their contribution to the destination’s tourism industry.

Invitations will go out to around 150 UKtravel trade companies within the nextfew weeks.
