Sovereign to target popular city options
Paris and Amsterdam
Report by STEVE JONES
UPMARKET operator Sovereign has launched a dedicated Paris and Amsterdam brochure, predicting the popularity of the cities will continue unabated. The programme will run alongside its existing city programme but will feature a wider range of hotels.
In the French capital 53 are offered – 28 more than in the main brochure – with three more contracted in Amsterdam, taking the total to 22. Properties in Disneyland Paris, Northern France and the Hague are also featured.
Sovereign business manager Anna Prentice said astand-alone programme will also enable more detailed information on each city to be included along with pre-bookable excursions and celebration packages.
She predicted the demand for Paris and Amsterdam – the most accessible and popular cities from the UK – will continue to increase.
“Paris and Amsterdam are the top sellers in a market which has nearly doubled in the last 10 years,” she said. “We believe there is still room for growth.
“Paris in particular is shaking off its reputation as an expensive city, which is borne out by the fact that 70% of our hotels are three star or below.”
Prices lead in at £115 per person for one night in Paris, including flights and a cruise.
She said capacity remained tight in Amsterdam. “For that reason we have included three hotels in The Hague which is only half an hour from Amsterdam,” said Prentice.
Flights are available from 20 regional airports with Buzz, Ryanair and KLM UK among the carriers, while travel with Eurostar, ferries and the Orient Express are also featured.
