Muir denies resignation will undermine franchise deal

RON MUIR, who masterminded the franchise deal with Airtours, has denied that his resignation has fatally undermined the arrangement.

But the former Advantage managing director conceded that mistakes have been made and that the alliance needs a rethink to survive.

Muir, who will remain with Advantage and be responsible for developing its Web site, said the lack of promised technology for agents and the withholding of enhanced commission rates to fund the franchise are two major flaws that need addressing.

“The current formula is not working and it needs a fresh pair of eyes to take it forward,” said Muir. “I have my own ideas but truly believe it’s time for someone else to resolve the situation.”

Franchised agents have been becoming increasingly disgruntled at having commission withheld to pay for marketing, advertising and a new sales team.”Commission is what triggers the independent businessman. Money in the pocket is key,” admitted Muir.
