Virgin Sun offers Greek brochure
VIRGIN Sun has launched a dedicated Greece brochure for summer 2001 as it seeks to capture a slice of the early-booking market. The operator has also introduced two exclusive Virgin Clubs to its summer sun programme to offset the shortage of good quality properties.
General manager Chris Woodbridge-Cox said it would lose Greece bookings to rivals if product was restricted to its summer sun brochure.
“There are 30 dedicated Greece programmes on the racks and customers looking to go to the destination will not wade through a summer sun brochure,” he said. “A selection of hotels are included in summer sun but most of the Greece product is included in the dedicated brochure.”
The programme features Corfu, Zakynthos, Crete, Rhodes and Kos.
Prices lead in at £189 per person for seven nights in Corfu.
The two new Virgin Clubs are offered in Majorca and Minorca.
“The lack of beds is the biggest headache in the short-haul market,” said Woodbridge-Cox. “It has got to the stage that if you are offered a property, you wonder what’s wrong with it. Virgin Clubs guarantee us long term, quality accommodation.”
Summer 2001 capacity has been increased by around 15% with prices rising 3%.
n Virgin has added Eilat, Malta and Maderia to its second-edition winter brochure which runs from November 2000 to April 2001.
