BRITISH Airways has launched lower business fares on domestic routes, offering up to 50% off the full-fare price. The new fares are available from Heathrow and Gatwick to Aberdeen, Glasgow and Edinburgh, and between Belfast and Newcastle to Heathrow.
Savings are available to passengers who plan their journey in advance, are flexible with flight times and stay overnight at their destination.
Customers who plan a trip five days in advance can save up to 40% even if they travel at peak time. If passengers travel off-peak, they can save up to 50%.
A full return business fare from Heathrow to Belfast, for example, costs £301.90 but the business saver off-peak costs only £148.90.
However, a spokesman for the Guild of Business Travel Agents said: “It will probably only impact a proportion of business travellers because a lot of travel is done there and back in a day. The new fares involve an overnight stay.”
A BA spokeswoman said the airline is looking at introducing lower long-haul fares in the future.
