Karma Group to enter Spain with hotel acquisition

Karma Group has acquired its first property in Spain with a site in the Andalusian hills.

The addition of Karma La Herriza will take the hotel group’s portfolio to more than 40 properties across the world, with 35 currently operating in 11 countries, six under development and more to be announced.

It is targeting 45 properties by spring 2022, with 10 additions during the pandemic, including Karma Salford Hall, a property once owned by Henry VIII in the Cotswolds, Karma Song Hoai in Hoi An, Vietnam, and Karma Seven Lakes in India’s Udaipur.

Karma La Herriza will be set within a state forest in the Sierras, and will feature more than 30 suites with restaurants, bars and an outdoor pool with mountain views.

The country estate, within 25 acres of natural woodland at more than 600 metres above sea level, will undergo renovations with a target to open in Easter 2022.

It is situated near the village of Gaucin, hill town Ronda and the Parque Natural de los Alcornocales, and is 45 minutes from the Costa del Sol and its resort Marbella.

Seville and Jerez are also within reach and the hotel can be served with flights from airports in Gibraltar and Malaga.

John Spence, chairman and founder of Karma Group, said: “Having a resort in Spain is a true pleasure for Karma and myself given the history of my time in this magnificent country. I know all members and guests will truly love this property.”
