Two UK travel industry sales staff have won trips to Adelaide by attending a South Australian Tourism Commission roadshow.
Suzana Zdravkovska (Not Just Travel) and Megan Emery (Gold Medal) each won a pair of Singapore Airlines flights along with hotel accommodation and tours.
A 29-strong SATC contingent travelled to Manchester, the Cotswolds, London, Munich, Milan and Paris and met with almost 400 travel trade contacts across 10 days in June.
This timed with the release of new figures showing that international tourism expenditure in South Australia has grown to A$814 million for the year ending March 2023, up from A$519 million for the year to December 2022.
The figure is tracking towards recovering the record high of A$1.2 billion international expenditure recorded for pre-Covid 2019.
SATC UK and Europe regional manager Janice Kurrle said: “These events sent a clear message to product managers and front line travel agents that South Australia is open for business, offering their clients exceptional tourism experiences across the state when they include it in an Australia holiday itinerary.”
Gold Medal Oceania destination manager Rachel McMurdo added: “We sent a number of our newer sales staff to the Manchester roadshow event, which was a fantastic learning experience for them.
“This was the first Australia event most of them have had the opportunity to attend. The feedback was all incredibly positive, and I know they’re now more confident in recommending and selling South Australia.”
