Travellers using Manchester airport this weekend have been warned to add up to 40 minutes to their journey due to a motorway closure.
Tui issued an alert to holidaymakers due to the closure of the M56 from 9pm today (Friday) until 5.30am on Monday morning.
The carriageway in both directions to and from Manchester will be shut.
The section of the M56 affected are junction 9 to 5 eastbound and junction 5 to 8 westbound.
Tui said: “Diversions will be in place but please allow extra time for your journey to the airport which will take longer than usual.
“Manchester airport recommends allowing an extra 35-40 minutes for your journey.”
Manchester airport said: “Delays are expected, before travelling plan ahead and allow extra time to complete your journey.
“Traffic will be diverted while this work is being carried out.
“Drivers are asked to follow the signed M56 diversion routes during these closures. Please do not use satnav when following the diversion.”
Ken Garrity, of Ken Garrity Travel in Altrincham, also highlighted that diversions would be in place and cautioned against missing flights.
