AWTE to combine Christmas lunch and annual awards

The Association of Women Travel Executives (AWTE) will, for the first time, hold a joint event combining its Christmas lunch and annual awards ceremony.

It is inviting nominations from the travel industry to honour those whose have made a significant contribution over the last 18 months.

The winners will be announced at the annual Christmas lunch on December 6 at One Moorgate, Chartered Accountants Hall, London.

Claire Osborne, AWTE chair, said: “It has been a really challenging 18 months for everyone in the travel industry and we are delighted be able to bring together two of our annual events in the run-up to Christmas.

“So many employees have gone above and beyond in the last 18 months, and this is an opportunity to recognise those efforts.

“In 2018, to allow us to represent our membership, the Ambassador Award was introduced, for our male colleagues, who actively encourage and support female employees within their business.

“There are a limited number of tickets still available for this event.”

Travel industry employees can nominate themselves, a colleague or someone they admire as well as a company that they believe really supports women with their career in the industry so that AWTE can publicly recognise their contribution.

Nominations are open for the following categories:

• AWTE Honorary Award – nominees should be any female who has significantly contributed to the travel industry over the past 18 months.

• Business Impact Award – can be any female in the travel, tourism and hospitality sector who has shown great innovation and made an impact in her role – either as an employee or her own business – and as a result positively impacted her business/and or the industry.

• Company Award – can be any company in the travel industry who has shown that they support and are committed to equality on their board and within their management structure. Allowing women to reach their potential within the company and impact the business, or the industry with the company’s support.

• Ambassador Award – nominees should be male travel industry employees who actively encourage, enable, and support women in business

The deadline for nominations is November 19.
